Electric motor repair and rewinding
Any AC or DC motor, up to 5,000 horsepower, repaired to ANSI/EASA AR100 practice and test run at its rated voltage before it leaves our Caldwell shop.

Repair
The motor is test run, windings are tested and vibration baselines recorded. Then it is taken apart, cleaned and inspected. Bearing housings and shaft journals are measured to ABMA tolerance, the shaft is checked for straightness, the rotor is dynamically balanced to NEMA tolerances and new C-3 bearings go in.
Rewind
We record nameplate data and coil dimensions, run a core loss test before and after the burnout oven (kept at or below 650°F for iron and steel frames), wind new coils from new copper, then varnish and test.
Test and warranty
Every motor is test run at rated voltage (460, 2300 or 4160 V) with a final vibration reading. As an EASA shop we are an authorized warranty repair facility for most motor manufacturers.

Common questions
How big a motor can you repair?
Up to 5,000 horsepower, test run at 460, 2300 or 4160 volts.
Does a rewind lower motor efficiency?
Not when it is done to EASA good practice. We follow the procedures from the EASA/AEMT rewind study, which maintain and can even improve efficiency.
Do you repair small motors?
We work on industrial and commercial motors. We don't service small motors from home appliances or small automotive motors.
